MECSHOT - WHERE TECHNOLOGIES INNOVATES

SHOT BLASTING CABINET

Shot Blasting Cabinet is a cabinet consisting of many elements useful for Shot Blasting the substrate surface. Shot Blasting Machine is a process in which blasting abrasives is Steel Shots. It is a cabinet having all one characteristic. We use this cabinet only for Abrasives like 30/60 mesh, Steel Grit, Aluminum Grit, Copper Slag, etc. That is used for blasting on the surface of the substrate. Shot Blasting Cabinet reduces the requirement of safety equipment because the cabinet protects the operator from the micro particles of abrasive.

Working of Shot Blasting Cabinet
Shot Blasting Cabinet is Work on the blasting principle, the pressure blaster generates high abrasive velocity, resulting in faster cleaning of the job. A pressure vessel directly bolted beneath the cabinet's hopper has an automatic abrasive media refilling arrangement. As a standard feature, a tubular fabric bag type dust collector with a large filter area is attached to the cabinet for high dust collection efficiency. For bag shaking, a manual shaker dust collector is also provided.

It is recommended for quick cleaning, removing heavy rust and corrosion with coarse abrasives, and etching the surface required for thermal spaying. The blast pressure can be adjusted from 30 to 90 psig. Depending on the application, almost any coarse or medium abrasive alike steel shots, stainless steel shot, cut wire shot, mild steel shot, copper slag, Aluminum oxide, etc can be used.

It is mostly a closed system that allows the operator to blast the part and recycle the abrasives, This mostly consists of four components; the shot blasting cabinet, the abrasive blasting system, the dust collector, and the grit recovery & recycling system.

Application of Shot Blasting Cabinet

  • Sand-molds are frequently used to make smaller auto parts like bell housings and stabilising bars, allowing for the use of shot-blasting cabinets to clean the surfaces prior to further processing.
  • Many small metal castings can be simultaneously cleaned of surface sand using a shot-blasting cabinet.
  • The optimal time to use shot-blasting in foundries is during post-production.
  • Before metal is processed, corrosion and rust can be removed with a shot blasting cabinet. It can also be employed at the end of the operation to give the metal a flawless surface.

Types of Shot Blasting Cabinet

Pressure Blaster - PB
Works on the DIRECT PRESSURE principle of blasting, the pressure blaster produces high abrasive velocity resulting in cleaning the job at a faster rate. A pressure vessel directly bolted below the hopper of the cabinet has an automatic abrasive refilling arrangement. A tubular fabric bag-type dust collector with a generous filter area is attached to the cabinet as a standard feature for high efficiency of dust collection. A manual shaker is also provided for bag shaking PB is recommended for fast cleaning and for removal of heavy rust and corrosion using coarse abrasive. It is most suitable for etching the surface needed for rubber lining. FRP lining and metal spaying. Castings and forgings are cleaned speedily. Blast pressure can be controlled from 30 to 90 psi. Almost all types of coarse and medium size abrasives can be used depending on the application.

Super Blast - SB
Works on INDUCTION - the SUCTION principle of abrasive delivery. The super blaster ensures continuous working and no interruption in the blasting cycle. Recommended for light and medium-sized components where the surface is to be cleaned or deburred or to impart with a fine matte finish. Useful for heat treatment shops, tools, die and mold makers, and shot peening of light metal components, etc. SB machines are incorporated with a reclaimer which ensures uniform cleaning and finishing each time and in every next operation. This is achieved by an automatic system of abrasive cleaning and separation built into the reclaimer. Dust and debris are separated, and only clean and sized abrasives are carried to the clast gun-ensuring a homogeneous finishing. Most cabinets of other make do not have the reclaimer as standard practice.

Wet Blaster - WB
Works on INDUCTION - the SUCTION principle of blasting. The most important point in wet blasting is its ability to use very fine abrasive - as fine as 5 microns. Fine abrasives are suspended in liquid, usually water, and then pumped to a nozzle as a slurry. At the nozzle , the slurry is introduced into the air - stream and propelled against the job. The glandless slurry pump is used to feed the slurry at positive pressure into the blast gun. The wetter parts of the pump are made of thermoset plastic material for corrosion resistance. WB machine is useful in the tool room to remove feather burrs and multi-tooth cutting tools, such as milling cutter holes, broaches, and taps, eliminating hours of hand honing time. It deburrs intersecting holes in precision parts that are inaccessible by any other method. The finest machined surface can be super-finished without damage to sharp edges and exact tolerances.
